# PsychAssist: Emotional Risk Monitoring for Traders

> PsychAssist tracks your Emotional Risk score in real time to warn you before tilt or overconfidence affects your trading decisions.

PsychAssist monitors your emotional state as you trade and surfaces warnings when your behavior patterns suggest elevated risk of an impulse mistake. It does not block your trading — it gives you information so you can decide. Think of it as a second pair of eyes that watches your recent session behavior while your attention is on the market.

## Emotional Risk (ER) score

The **ER score** is a continuous measure of your current emotional state based on what PsychAssist observes about your recent session activity. The scale runs from negative to positive:

| ER reading | What it means |
| --------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Elevated positive** | Clear-headed — conditions are favorable for disciplined execution |
| **Near zero**         | Neutral — stay attentive                                                    |
| **Below –1.5** | Elevated risk — impulse or revenge trade likelihood is statistically higher |

PsychAssist updates the ER score in real time. It factors in session-level signals including your infraction count and emotional control ratings from the Session Journal.

### ER Meter

A small **ER indicator** is visible in the main Fintheon interface at all times. Glance at it the same way you'd glance at a heat meter — it tells you the current temperature before you act, not after.

<Note>
  The ER score is advisory. A low score is a prompt to slow down, not a trading halt. You remain in full control of every decision.

## Morning Routine Gate

Each trading morning, PsychAssist may present a **Morning Routine Gate** before you can access the full Consilium workspace. The gate is a short pre-market calibration checklist:

1. Open Fintheon — read the tape, see the briefing
2. Check NarrativeFlow — Consilium analyst memos
3. Complete top-down analysis
4. Confirm you are mentally calibrated and ready to trade

Work through each step and check it off. Once all four are marked, click **Routine Complete** to proceed.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Read the tape">
    Open Fintheon and review overnight futures moves and the current MDB brief before looking at any individual instrument.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Check NarrativeFlow">
    Scan the catalyst cards in NarrativeFlow. Identify the two or three narratives most likely to affect your instruments today.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Top-down analysis">
    Work from macro to micro: index regime → sector → instrument. Confirm your read on directional bias and key levels.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Mental check-in">
    Honestly assess whether you are focused and even-keeled. If you are carrying stress from outside the market, note it. Entering the session aware of emotional noise is the point of the gate.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Warning>
  The Morning Routine Gate includes a **Skip (not recommended)** option. Using it bypasses the gate but the skip is logged. Frequent skips will appear in your session journal data and may correlate with elevated ER readings later in those sessions.

## Hot Hand Banner

The **Hot Hand Banner** appears at the top of the Consilium workspace when PsychAssist detects a streak of significant wins that statistically elevates overconfidence risk.

When the banner is active it shows:

* How many hours remain in the 48-hour watch window
* The win amount that triggered the flag

The banner text reads: *"Verify thesis quality before entry. Standard sizing only."* That is the practical instruction — confirm your analysis is sound before adding size, and resist the pull to deviate from your normal risk parameters just because recent trades went well.

<Accordion title="What triggers the Hot Hand flag?">
  A single large win triggers a 48-hour overconfidence watch. The banner stays visible until the window expires or you explicitly dismiss it. The flag is based on the statistical pattern that a sequence of wins increases the probability of an outsized risk-on decision, regardless of whether the wins were deserved.
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="Does the Hot Hand Banner affect my position limits?">
  No. PsychAssist does not interact with your order management or position limits. The banner is informational only. Sizing and risk decisions remain entirely yours.
</Accordion>

## How PsychAssist connects to Voice mode

If your ER score drops below the threshold or you log multiple infractions in a short window, PsychAssist may trigger an intervention via [Voice mode](/trading/voice). Harper will speak a brief check-in prompt to acknowledge what the data is showing. This only fires when voice is enabled and after a 10-minute cooldown between interventions — it will not interrupt you repeatedly.

## PsychAssist scores in your journal

Your session-level self-scores (Discipline Score and Emotional Control) feed back into PsychAssist's view of your performance over time. The ER score visible on each [Day History Card](/trading/journal#day-history-cards) in the Trading Journal is the snapshot from that session. Reviewing these over a 30-day window is one of the most effective ways to identify the market conditions or times of day when your emotional discipline tends to slip.

<Tip>
  After a streak of high-ER sessions, look at the Blindspots row in the Performance Dashboard. The two views are designed to be used together — ER tells you when it's happening, Blindspots tells you what the specific pattern is.
