Voice mode lets you talk to Harper — Fintheon’s Chief Analyst agent — without leaving your charts. You ask a question, Harper responds in speech, and the conversation appears as a live transcript while audio plays. It is designed for moments when your hands are on the keyboard or mouse and you need a read on something fast.

Starting a voice session

1

Activate the mic button

Find the mic button in the Consilium chat header. Click it to enable voice mode. The button shows a mic icon when dormant; when voice is active it becomes a pulsing aurora orb.
2

Speak your question

Speak naturally. Harper listens while the orb is in the listening state. You can ask anything you would type in the chat — a quick read on a headline, a level check, a thesis sanity test.
3

Wait for the response

The orb moves to thinking while Harper processes, then to speaking as the audio plays. The transcript appears at the top of the interface while speech is active.
4

Continue or dismiss

Ask a follow-up or dismiss the session. One click on the mic button (or the dismiss button in the top-right corner of the Voice Rim Frame) ends the voice session completely.

The Voice Rim Frame

While a voice session is active, a gold accent rim appears around the entire application window. This is the Voice Rim Frame — a visual signal that voice mode is live and that Harper is listening or responding. The rim changes appearance to reflect what is happening: The rim is decorative and does not cover any content. It sits at the very edge of the window and is pointer-event transparent — you can click through it.

Dismiss button

A small × button appears in the top-right corner of the screen whenever the rim is active. Clicking it ends the voice session and disables voice mode entirely.
The dismiss button is the only interactive element on the rim. Everything else is visual-only and does not interfere with normal platform use.

Transcript display

Your words and Harper’s responses both appear as text while the session runs. This lets you verify what Harper heard and read the response even in a noisy environment or if you missed part of the spoken reply. Transcripts are not persisted as a permanent chat log — they are session-scoped. If you want to keep a response, copy it from the chat interface before dismissing the voice session.

What Harper can do in voice mode

Harper in voice mode has the same capabilities as Harper in text chat. Responses are consistent between both modes — voice does not route to a simpler or reduced model. Good uses for voice during a session:
  • Quick headline reads — “Harper, what’s the context on that Fed speaker headline?”
  • Level checks — “What are the key technical levels on ES today?”
  • Thesis validation — “Does this trade idea hold up against the current macro brief?”
  • Brief playback — “Read me the key points from this morning’s brief.”
  • Voice journaling a trade idea — speak your trade thesis out loud so it becomes part of the session context
Voice is especially useful in the 5 minutes before a catalyst event. You can get Harper’s probabilistic read on likely scenarios hands-free while managing open positions, without switching away from your charts.

PsychAssist and voice interventions

When PsychAssist detects elevated Emotional Risk — through a low ER score or multiple infractions logged in a short window — it may trigger a brief spoken check-in from Harper via voice mode. This only fires when voice is enabled. Interventions are subject to a 10-minute cooldown so they do not stack up. If this happens mid-session, Harper’s message will be brief and direct. You do not need to respond — it is a prompt, not a dialogue requirement.

Microphone access

Voice mode requires microphone permission. If the mic button appears with a MicOff icon and cannot be clicked, your browser or OS has blocked microphone access.
1

Check your browser permissions

In your browser settings, find the microphone permissions for Fintheon and set it to Allow.
2

Check OS-level permissions

On macOS, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone and confirm your browser is listed and enabled. On Windows, go to Settings → Privacy → Microphone.
3

Reload Fintheon

After granting permission, reload the application. The mic button should now show the mic icon and respond to clicks.
Voice recognition is not available in all browser environments. If the mic button is permanently disabled regardless of permissions, your current browser may not support the Web Speech API. Use a Chromium-based browser for full voice support.
